Leo Games

Success of another Community Service Project!

-The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in-

Date : 13/9/2008 (Saturday)
Time : 9am-11am
Venue : SMK Assunta
Person involved : Orphans from Rumah Kasih + Leo club of Assunta

First of all, excuse my grammar error if there is any down the post...Here am I to post about the Leo Games we had today...!
8.30 in the morning, we were in school getting ready to pick the orphans from Rumah Kasih in SS3.. Bernice and I did that "fetching" job..
At 9am, we arrived as planned!
Ice breaking session is always a yes-yes..We introduced ourselves and the day begins with a morning exercise conducted by PearlyNg! Well, she had some unique and weird moves for us to follow during the activity..I am not surprised so shall you because she is one of our school's cheerleader..!

We followed obediently and did what she did..
Then, another type of "weird" exercise conducted by Deborah and I which goes like this....
Left, left, left right left...
Let me see you *insert the action*
What do you say?
Let me see you *insert the action*
What do you say?
I say Oooo Ahh Ahh Ahh Oooo Ahh Ahh (while doing some funny actions)
It's time for our station games after that..A game planned out skillfully by PeiSan, Daarshawnee and other Leos (taking every precautions into consideration as this game involves KIDS!)
Say Cheese! A group picture was taken before we begin..!
The games that the leos set up......

The groups presenting their group cheer!!!
Group#1 = LEOROCKS

Group#2 = BANANA

Pictures of the kids playing joyfully and happily :)

"You turn 5 rounds and your head will start spinning"

"Then, try walking on the string"
Very Pening perhaps? That's the fun of it...

The seniors from the home..

The exhausted Leos

Break time

Getting the kids to line up for the next activity, Tug-a-war..Honestly, it was hard to get them seperated because they are too 'sticky' to certain people...

Finally, seperated into two groups...

This one...........
VS
This one.............
Winning team...
Losing yet still spirited team

The leos with Ann from Rumah Kasih
US OVERALL!

To summarize this post up, it was a blast although there were only a few Leos who turned up..I am happy and glad to spend my Saturday morning in school, putting smiles into everyone's faces because to me.........
"The happiest thing in life, is the satisfaction of making other people happy"
With that, we fulfilled our motto *we serve* as a LEO today!
ROAR ROAR ROAR!
With love,

A NATIONAL DAY CELEBRATION IN RUMAH KASIH!!!!

On the 29th of August 2008, the Leo Club of S.M.K. Assunta visited Rumah Kasih. The visit was held to celebrate our National Day with the kids. At 2.00 p.m. we left school by chartering a bus. We got lost on the way, but managed to get to Rumah Kasih at around 2.45 p.m.

Our first activity was ice-breaker. We had to introduce our name, age and hobby. The kids were very shy at the start, but soon they became more sociable with the Leos. Next, we played newspaper dance. Each of the Leos held a kid and danced along. It was really fun dancing with all the kids.

After that, we went outside to play “hitting with the baton”. Everyone laughed as they had to choose to be an animal character at the start of the game. Everyone had fun. After playing this game, we proceeded back into the house to play an interesting game. We were required to pass around a basketball. Whoever who caught the ball when the music stopped was required to act out the animal chosen and then she would get a MAMEE Monster!!!

At around 3.30 p.m., the kids and the Leos painted a Malaysian flag. It was a very unique way of painting it as the kids were required to paint their hands and then pasted their hands on the Malaysian flag to produce hand prints with colours of red, blue and yellow.

Then, at 4.10 p.m., we had a photography session with the kids while carrying the Malaysian flag. The picture was very nice as everyone had a smile on their face. This shows that each and every one of us enjoyed the activities held. It ended at 4.15 p.m. and we had to wave our goodbyes. That was the hardest moment as we, the Leos, had to leave with heavy hearts. We headed our way back to school and it was a trip of happiness and satisfaction.

Leo Club of S.M.K. Assunta, ROAR! ROAR! ROAR!

10th District 308B2 LEO Forum.

First of all, many apologies for the excruciatingly late post (:

I am LEO Bernice and I am here to post about the 10th District 308B2 Leo Forum 2008! Yes I hear the sighs of “FINALLY…” coming from all of you anxiously awaiting this post. So enough of the blabbering, back to business. 23 of our leos participated in this year’s Forum held in Ipoh, Perak. The forum was from the 30th of May to the 1st of June 2008 and it was an unforgettable experience for all of us. There was a total of 487 delegates from the Leo Clubs from Region 1 to 8.

On the 30th of May, the leos assembled at A&W with our fellow leos from the LEO Club of SMK Taman Sea and the LEO Club of SMK Damansara Jaya. It was very early, I can’t remember the time, but I remember it was still very dark and many of us were sporting half-asleep-faces (: Nevertheless, we were still very excited and anxious for the long trip to Ipoh. We boarded the bus around 7 to Hentian Duta where we met our fellow leos from all over Region 7 and 8. We waited around for an hour before we were told to board our buses and depart from Hentian Duta to Ipoh. Our leos were sharing a bus with SMK Damansara Jaya and there was of course, never a dull moment with them (: A lot of us made a lot of noise on the way there, all very anxious for forum.

We reached Heritage Hotel, Ipoh at about 12 p.m. Upon arriving, we were given a forum kit and a forum bag. We left our bagages at the hotel’s ballroom and boarded another bus to the Red Cresent Hall. We had our lunch there and then proceded with our first activity, TEAMBUILDING (:

All 487 delegates were seperated into 20++ groups. Each group were required to get a group name, a group cheer and complete 4 activities. 3 of the 4 activities were station games where the delegates were tested in their team work and creativity. I was in a group called the “Groovy Groupies” (: One of the station game worth mentioning is the “Building Tower” game (I FORGOT WHAT IT’S CALLED BUT ITS WORTH MENTIONING!) We were given a big packet of straw and were told to build a tall and stabile tower out of the given straws. My team faired well although our tower wasn’t very stabile, but it was very tall (: The other activity all teams had to complete was the Special Recycling Project activity that required each group to make a piece of clothing out of recyclable materials. Let me just say that MY TEAM did VERY AWESOMELY with our recyclable materials (:

Our very own president concentrating on building the tower

After teambuilding was over, we boarded the bus again back to Heritage Hotel. We were given our keys and proceded into our rooms to prepare for the night, which was fellowship night themed “Starlight Night”. Fellowship Night also happens to be the finals for the LEO Idol. One of our school’s participant, Leo Bliana, was the Selangor State champion and was chosen to participate in the LEO Idol Finals. We boarded the bus once again to the Red Cresent Hall where we took our places and had a buffet dinner. The dinner was satisfying as we were entertained with the clips of the LEO Idol finalists. After dinner, the night begin as we were entertained with local artistes as well as the LEO Idol finalists.

After the performances, a slideshow about the China Earthquake was shown. Some of us were in tears after the slideshow ended. A box for donations were passed around and delegated were encouraged to donate. After that, the moment everyone was waiting for arrived when they announced the two top finalists entering the Leo Idol Finals. Leo Samuel from the LEO Club of SMK Sam Tet and Leo Alvin from the LEO Club of SMK Chung Ling were chosen as the two top finalists. They both performed their song, both very emotional to have made it this far. Delegates were informed after the performance that they can vote for their favourite Leo Idol finalists through SMS. While the votes were being tabulated, Dina, second runner-up of Malaysian Idol, presented her rendition of Umbrella by Rihanna and No One by Alicia Keys. The crowd was very hyped up that we even ask for an encore.

The moment that we were all waiting for arrived where the LEO Idol 2008 was announced. Leo Alvin from the Leo Club of SMK Chung Ling emerged as the LEO Idol 2008!

The LEO Idols!

The delegates boarded the bus back to the hotel at around 11 p.m. Upon reaching the hotel, the delegates returned to their respective rooms for a good night rest.

The next day, breakfast was delivered to the rooms. After breakfast, the delegates proceeded to the ballroom for the Opening Ceremony. There was the banner presentation, the welcome speech from the Forum Organizing Chairperson, Leo Eliza Chia and the presentation of the teambuilding Recycling Project.

The models (:

After the opening ceremony, delegates were given an hour to have their lunch and then proceed back to the ballroom for the anxiously awaited event, the LEO awards presentation. There was a long list of awards that were given out and everytime any leo club achieves an award, they would all stand up and give their loudest “ROAR ROAR ROAR!” During the awards presentation, we also had a special activity. All delegates were given LEO money together with their fourm kits. The LEO money serves a purpose as we were to suppose to use it to bid for all types of things. From Leo Eliza Chia’s smile to fruit baskets, it was hilarious to see the delegates so heated up on bidding! Us leo’s from Assunta preserved our money for the night bidding that promised bigger and better prizes!

Our president, Leo Suzanna, receiving the award for 100% administrative award.

Leo Josephine accepting her Outstanding Director award

Leo Elizabeth accepting the Outstanding Treasurer award

After the awards presentation, we were given one hour and a half to prepare for Banquet Night themed Black and White. All delegates were sporting elaborate dresses and the guys were dressed smartly. Delegates were transferred to the Florex Restaurant where the Banquet Night took place. It was a spectacular event and the food that night was really good. Although, some of us couldn’t eat because we were too anxious about the top awards being given out. Just before announcing the top club award, another bidding session was conducted by Lion Alan Thoo. The LEO’s from Region 7 and 8 joined forces to make the final bid for a Mystery Gift. It turned out the Mystery Gift was a donation of 15,000 to the China Earthquake Victims! J We did charity that night, yes, we did!

It was the next award that left all the Assunta Leos completely breathless (well, at least, I felt breathless) When they announced that we were the Top LEO Club all of us jumped and screamed. All of us walked up to the stage and took a group picture admist all the happiness and excitement. We even screamed on stage x) Unforgettable!

A formal picture with our awards

The leos returned back to the hotel and took a group picture with the LEO Club of SMK Sam Tet who was also sharing the Top Club award with us.

The next day was the closing ceremony for the 10th District 308B2 Forum. The winners of teambuilding was announced and my team (: got 3rd place! Bwahaha, since I am the one doing this report! X)

We said our farewells and boarded the bus for the last time at around 3 pm. Forum 2008 was a memorable experience and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the FOCC's and all the leos that contributed to this successful event. Thankss (:

To the leos, KEEP ROARING (:

*PHEW* The post is FINALLY done. (:
