After that, Leo Juliette Lim and Leo Sharifah Nur Jahan spent their free period distributing more packets to the afternoon section teachers, guards, cleaners and canteen staffs and even to random school visitors. Even with all the sweets given to everyone, we still had extras which we plan to give the orphanage that we will visit in the future.

This project gave opportunity to the Form 3 Leo members to fill in their time and contribute their time after their PMR trial with a Leo project in order to appreciate the school' s staffs and to wish everyone, the Muslims especially a Happy Raya in the form of these gifts.

Report on Leo Orientation Camp 2013

On the 16th, 17th, and 18th of August 2013, the Leo Club of SMK Assunta attended a camp organized by the Leo Club of Petaling Jaya Integrity. It was held at Taman Wetland Putrajaya and a total of 5 Leo clubs took part in it. The main purpose of this camp was to make new friends and get to know the members of our sister clubs.

We gathered at A&W, Taman Jaya on Friday morning and left for the campsite at about 8am. Upon reaching the place, we were all split into groups of 10 using poker cards; Clubs, Hearts, Spades, and Diamonds. We had lots of team building yet mind twisting activities all the time. We even learnt a little bit of Maths, English and Science on the way.

On the last day of camp, each club presented their fiscal year planner and shared project ideas with each other. We also took group photos and exchanged contact details to stay in touch. We left the campsite on Sunday evening at about 3 in the afternoon. Everyone made new friends and had an amazing time. Though it was a leisure camp, we had tons of fun!

Report on Leo Basketball Tournament

On the 12th of August 2013, the Leo Club of SMK USJ 8 organized a Leo Basketball Tournament. The purpose of this project is to raise club funds and to create or bring bonds closer between the Leos of different schools.

A total of 14 clubs have participated in this tournament which includes Leo Club of Assunta, Leo Club of Subang Utama, Leo Club of Taman Petaling, Leo Club of La Salle PJ, Leo Club of Sri KL , Leo Club of La Salle Klang, Leo Club of SMK USJ 13, Leo Club of Taman Sea, Leo Club of Damansara Jaya, Leo Club of SMK Seafield, Leo Club of PJI (O), Leo Club of Ipoh Unity (O), Leo Club of IPG Campus (O) and Leo Club of SMK USJ 8. The participants were separated into groups of ten which were named after colours.

The event commenced at 9am where the Organizing committee separated us according to the respective groups given and announced the first match, Sky blue against Sea Blue. All the matches were truly very interesting as people from different places and different abilities were playing together. Watching from the side and playing in the game gave a totally different feel. When you are watching from the side, it was amazing to see how good other Leos can be at basketball and served as an inspiration to oneself. When you are in the game, you just didn’t want to disappoint my team members even though you may have just met them. It truly was an experience nothing can replace as we’ve met so many new friends and cooperated to do our very best even if we couldn’t play very well or had to support the weaker players.

Every single game was very intense and jaw dropping at moments. Being able to share that with one another, even if you don’t really know that person, is not something we get an opportunity to do every day. Honestly, I really didn’t want to go in the beginning because of the fee that was a little pricey. I really would have regretted not going now that I look back because I got an opportunity to make so many new friends and play with or against them.

The matches went on and on until 5pm. The Leos were all gathered to announce and present the medals to the winners. The winner of the loser’s pool was the Green Team. The runner up for the winner’s pool was the White Team and the champion of the tournament was none other than the Black Team! After that, they announced the MVP’s of the game and they really did deserve the award judging by their performance. After taking a group photo, everyone was dismissed and went home with nothing but good memories.

Report on Form 5 Leo Farewell Party

On the 3rd of August 2013, we organized a farewell party to thank all the outgoing Leos of our club for their contribution. Leo Iswarya Ananthan, our membership director, was kind enough to offer her place for the party. Thanks to her, it was a pool party, with a beautiful scenery to compliment it.

The Form 5’s started arriving at around 6 in the evening. Everyone immediately changed into t-shirt and shorts and jumped into the pool. As it was a pot luck party, all the Leos who attended brought varieties of food for everyone to share and enjoy. We also barbequed chicken wings and cut a small cake just to show our seniors that we really do appreciate all they have done.

After swimming and eating, all of us gathered under a gazebo. We had our traditional gift exchange session. Once we were all done talking and relaxing, we helped clean up the place before leaving. Everyone left at around 11pm. We had a really good time and it was good opportunity for everyone to bond with each other.
