Maroarthon 2015

     On the 29th of March 2015, about 25 Leo probates from Leo Club of SMK Assunta participated in Maroarthon 2015, jointly organised by Leo Club of Sri KL, Leo Club of Seksyen 4 Bandar Kinrara, Leo Club of Brickfields Asia, Leo Club of Bandar Utama 3 and Leo Club of Taylor's University. The main objective for this run was to raise finds for Voice of Children to ensure that the rights of every child are protected and no longer at risk of violation.

     This marathon was 5 km long. Many were tired but didn't give up and to add to that, one of our very own probationers, Agnes Lim got the 19th position for the girls under 18 category. Congrats to her. Overall, this event was a success because we helped each other on the way, pushed each other until there was only one choice, finish the race and succeeded to finish the race together.

     Hopefully there will be more events to come like this in the future. The Leo probationers were grateful to have gone for this event.

Leo Earth Hour Walkathon 2015

     On the 28th of March, the Leo Club of Assunta organized the annual Earth Hour Walkathon themed 'Night Vision: Finding Our Way Through the Dark'. The event was held from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.

     The event began with the usual speeches by the organizing chairperson and Lions. Following that were some energetic performances. The performances really entertained the crowd. At around 8.00pm, all the lights were switched off for the walk to begin. The Leos were provided with glow sticks to enhance the experience. During the walk, the Leos really loads of fun. It was truly a memorable time.

     The lights were switched on again at 9.00pm. The Leos were tired but ultimately still had energy to dance! The night ended well and left us all with beautiful memories. We were glad to have been part of the project which was a definite success. Save the world, love our earth!

Leo Musical Charity Concert 2015

     On Saturday, 21st March 2015, an event called Regional Leo Musical Charity Concert was held at Taylor's University Lakeside Campus, Subang Jaya. It was from 12.30pm to 4.00pm. The theme was Chromesthesia, meaning Colours of Your Theme Song. There were eight clubs that were involved in organizing the event which were the Leo Clubs of Petaling Jaya Integrity, Leo Club of SMK Taman SEA, Leo Club of Taylors University (O), Leo Club of SMK Bandar Utama 3, Leo Club of USJ 4, Leo Club of SMK Taman Petaling, Leo Club of SMK La Salle PJ and Leo Club of SMK Assunta. The purpose of this event was to raise funds for Teach for Malaysia.

     The event began with a speech by the organizing chairman, Leo Leong Wai Yew, followed by Lion Adviser Albert, the adviser for the Leo Club of Taylor's University. After that, all the Lions and Leos present did their respective roll calls. There were eighteen performances in total. Among them were the cheer leading performance by a team called Dynamites and beat boxing by Jeremy.

     Overall, the event was a successful one. It has fulfilled its main goal and also entertained the audience.

ROAR Fiesta 2015

     On the 14th of March 2015, the Leo Club of Metro MCKL held the ROAR Fiesta carnival. This carnival was held from 9.00am to 5.00pm in the evening. The main objective of the carnival was held to raise money for the National Kidney Foundation. The day proved to be very exciting and enjoyable as they were many fun booths selling various items. All in all, it was a successful event and we hope to attend many more events like this in the future. ROAR!

District 308 B2 Region 5 Leo Quiz 2015

     On the 14th of March, 4 Leos from SMK Assunta participated in the Regional Leo Quiz, organised by Leo Club of Methodist College Kuala Lumpur. This event was held in conjunction with ROAR Fiesta. We managed get third placing despite the healthy competitiveness among other Leos. It was a great day. ROAR!

Colours of Hope 2015

     On the 8th of March 2015, 14 Leo probationers from Leo Club of SMK Assunta went for a charity run called Colours of Hope, also known as Colour Run organised by Leo Club of Sunway Metro (O). The registration fee was RM45. The run was 5km. The 'Colours of Hope' run was held at USJ 11/5 park. The event started from 6.30am to approcimately 11.00am.

     The main purpose of the run was to raise awareness for palliative care as well to raise funds of Hospis Malaya. Before flag-off, the participants went to the registration booth to take their attendance. Shortly after that, there was a warm up crew that led the warm up routine. At 7.30am, all the participants went to the starting point of the race. While the participants were running, they were sprayed with 5 different colours for every kilometer they ran. Among the 5 colours, there were Purple that represented Cancer, Pink that represented HIV or AIDS, Green that represented organ failure, Dark Blue that represented neurological disorders and Yellow that represented congenital defects.

     After the 5km run, each participant was given a certificate and 3 packets or coloured powders which were hazard free. When all the participants were well rested, the committee started the prize giving ceremony to the Top 20 for each category. The coloured that were given to the participants were used during the footloose session to spice up the moment also to symbolise their respective codees related to palliative care.

     The Leos enjoyed the event very much. The event was definitely a success.

From Gifts to Gifts 2 Charity Concert

     Leo CLub of SMK Damansarya Jaya had organised a charity concert on the 7th of March, at the Dewan Sivik MBPJ's Auditorium. It started at 8.00pm. A few members from Leo Club of SMK Assunta attended this charity concert. There were also many Leos from other clubs who attended this concert, so the auditorium was very crowded. Before I forget, this concert was to help raise funds for the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia. Leo Club of SMK Damansara Jaya raised RM 40 888.88 in total for the kidney foundation. The performanced at the concert were fantastic! They had cheer leading, choir, singing, dancing, beat boxing and of course the amazing Solomon. Leo Club of SMK Damansara Jaya had done a great job all in all.

Leo Club of Sunway Metro's Community Service Project

     On the 14th of February, 5 Leos from the Leo Club of Assunta attended a community service project organised by Leo Club of Sunway Metro (O). The project started at 3.30pm and it ended around 5.00pm. We visited the old folks at Rumah Charis, KL in conjunction with Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year.

     We sang some old songs for the elderly and we spend some time chatting with them. Besides that, we prepared steamboat for them as their dinner. We had steamboat together with the elderly while chitchatting with them.

     It was a great experience and we were happy that we managed to put a smile on the old folks' faces.

Leo Club of SEGI College Subang Jaya's Formation Day

     The omega Leo Club of SEGI College organized a formation day which was held on 8th February 2015, Sunday. It started at 11.00am at the theater hall, 6th floor SEGI College Subang Jaya. Three Leos represented our school for this event. There were other omega and alpha Leo clubs that attended this event. The meeting was called to order at 11.00am.

     Before the installation, speeches were give by the Lions and by 12.00pm the installation of the president and the Board of Directors was held. After the acceptance speech by the president Leo Carmen Su, the gong and the Leo Club banner was given to Leo Carmen Su, the president of the club.

     Later on, the token of appreciation was given the to Lions and the organizing chairperson gave aa thank you speech. The meeting was adjourned exactly at 1.00pm. We had a small photography session and the lunch was provided at the cafeteria at 1.30pm. The event ended at 2.30pm. We all had a great time there.

Joint 3S Project (Sweep, Swept, Swap)

     On the 31st of January 2015, 23 Leos from the Leo Club of SMK Assunta participated in the Joint 3S project. This was an extremely fun and heart-warming project as the Leos had the opportunity to spend time with the children from the home whilst cleaning their home for Chinese New Year.

     The Leos were extremely enthusiastic when carrying out their required tasks. Some Leos painted the grills, while others swept the home, wiped the windows and cleaned the fans and lights. To brighten up the home and boost up the Chinese New Year spirit, the Leos wrote some Chinese New Year quotes in mandarin. After all the tireless cleaning, the children and the Leos sat down to watch an entertaining Lion Dance performance.

     Overall, this project was truly wonderful and very eye-opening. We brought much joy to the kids and were so pleased to see them so happy and joyful. We hope to have projects like this in the future. The memories made here today will stay with us forever.

Leolympics 2015

     On the 18th of January, the Leo Club of Sungai Buloh organized the Leolympics Bowling event. It was held at Sunway Pyramid from 1.30pm to 4.00pm. Our club sent 1 team of 4 to participate. Unfortunately, we did not win but it was a very good experience and it was also very well organized.

     Meanwhile, on the 25th of January, the Leo Club of Subang Utama organized Leolympics Badminton. It was held from 1.00pm to 6.00pm at Supercourts. Our club sent 1 team of 2. Although we still did not win but we really had a lot of fun and learnt a lot.

Recruitment Drive

     On the 15th of January 2015, a few Leos took to the morning assembly to promote the Leo Club. The energetic Leos really drew the crowd's attention with their colourful boards and loud presentation. They received good response from many students especially the Form 3's who were very interested to know more about Leo and its activities. All in all it was a very successful recruitment drive!

New Year's Gift

     On the 13th of January 2015, Leos from Leo Club of SMK Assunta gave our marker pens to the teachers in our school as a belated New Year's gift. The Board of Directors decided to give out marker pens to the teachers as we all know that teachers use them very frequently. A small tag of our wishes to the teachers were pasted onto the marker pens. We hope out teachers will not scowl and worry about finding their marker pens when they need them. ROAR!

Regional Farewell Party

     On the 3rd of January 2015, 9 Leos from our club participated in this party that was organized by the Leo Club of USJ 8, Leo Club of Seksyen 4, Leo Club of Taman Petaling, Leo Club of Sungai Buloh and Leo Club of Assunta Secondary School. The joint party was held in 3C Building in Subang Jaya from 6.00pm to 9.00pm. There were also Leos from Leo Club of Sri Lanka and Leo lub of Kampar United who came and joined us at the party.

     This party was dedicated to the outgoing board of directors. They party really allowed the Leos to reminisce on their Leo moments before journeying to their college lives. We played some ice breaking games with the Leos from the other Leo clubs and also dressed up the outgoing presidents. Not forgetting the gift exchanging activity! All the Leos who brought a gift received another gift from an anonymous Leo.

     Food and beverages were also prepared. Around 70 people attended this event and all of us really enjoyed the party. It was a great opportunity to get to know the Leos from Kampar United and Sri Lanka. We hope to see each other again!

Orientation Day Gifts and Cookie Sales

     During the Orientation Day for the Form 1 students, a few Leos decided to make these girls very happy by representing them with little gifts. The gifts was a pen with a beautiful paper butterfly attached to it. The girls were smiling brightly as they received these gifts from the Leos. Also, some Leos were selling delicious cookies. Many From 1 students purchased the cookies and were very excited with them. It was truly an amazing day.
