First Official General Meeting of Fiscal Year 2015-2016

On the 31st of July 2015, the Leo Club of SMK Assunta had its first official General Meeting for fiscal year 2015-2016. During the meeting, we spoke and explained about our upcoming projects. We hope that all of our members will participate and support all our projects. Together, we can bring our club to greater heights. Here’s to an amazing and fruitful year ahead! ROAR!

PJI & Taylor's College SJ Omega Joint Installation

     
     On the 25th of July 2015, 13 Leos attended PJI & Taylor's Subang Jaya Omega Joint Installation themed Leomania which was held at Taylor's College Subang Multipurpose Hall. We witnessed the installation of the new members and BODS. The array of performances left the audiences mesmerized. It was indeed an enjoyable event. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Leo Club Of PJI and the Leo Club of Taylor's College Subang Jaya for inviting us. Congratulations to the newly-installed Leos and Board of Directors and best of wishes for your fiscal years! ROAR!

55th Installation of the Lions Club of Petaling Jaya

     On the 18th of July, two representatives from the Leo Club Of SMK Assunta, the President and the Vice President attended the 55th installation of the Lions Club of Petaling Jaya at the Pantai Seafood Restaurant. They witnessed the installing of the new board of directors as well as the members of our sponsoring lions club. Congratulations to the newly elected president, Lion Ronnie Wong and the board of directors. We hope that they have a successful fiscal year ahead. ROAR!

Odd Jobs 2015

     On the 11^th of July 2015, about 9 Leos from The Leo Club of SMK Assunta participated in a project entitled Odd Jobs 2015. This project was organised by The Leo Club Of Sunway Metro (O). The clubs that were present were The Leo Club of SMK Assunta (A), The Leo Club Of Taman Petaling (A) and the Leo Club Sunway Metro (O) itself. The main objective of this project is to raise funds for the school of refugees.

    

     Everyone who was part of this project gathered at SMK La Salle at about 8.30 am, as soon as everybody arrived, the organising chairperson explained about this project, how we should carry it out and then divided us into groups. There were 3 groups consisting about 5-7 people each group. Then all 3 groups set sail on to 3 different paths around section 5. Each group were to do chores in each house such as sweep the floor, wash the cars, pluck the grass etc. and they would be given an amount of money the owner or resident of each house would like to give. Many were kind enough to give quite an amount of money. Besides that, the Leos also asked for old clothes that can be used and donations for the refugees.

     

    At the end of this project, the Leos were exhausted but they were glad they completed the job because it was for a good cause. I hope there will be more events to come like this and I would like to thank the Leo of Sunway Metro (O) for organising such a thoughtful event for us to be a part of.

Leo Club of SMK Assunta's 44th Annual Installation

On the 10th of July 2015, the Leo Club of SMK Assunta had its 44th Annual Installation themed ORSUS: The Journey Begins With One's Creativity.We believe that innovation and transformation are derived from creativity, and with that, we are able to carry our responsibility to the community to a whole new level. Registration began at 1:30 p.m., and the event officially began at 2:15 p.m. To start off our installation, we had an opening dance by our talented talented Assuntarians who performed a group dance that kept the audience going with their amazing dance moves.
    
     After the opening act, the MC's took over and the national anthem was sung, as well as the Lion Spirit Song. Leo Michelle Hee, our Outgoing President of 2014-2015 called the meeting to order. Then began the roll call, where every school showed their spirit by roaring as loud as they could. Our Organising Chairperson, Leo Jaspreet Kaur, took over the microphone for a short speech, explaining about the installation's theme.

     The incoming Leos were then installed by PDG Lion Woon, followed by the presentation of certificates to the outgoing Leos. The outgoing Board of Directors 2014-2015 then gave their jobs to their successors and the new Board of Directors of fiscal year 2015-2016 were installed by Lion Ronnie. The newly-installed President of Fiscal Year 2015-2016, Leo Rebecca Chew, gave a presidential speech.

     The performances then began with our very own Leo vocalist, Leo Maybelle who gave a stellar solo performance. The newly-installed Leos and Board of Directors took over the stage with an energetic Bhangra performance. Leo Jeremy then amazed the crowd with his amazing beatbox skills. Our 44th Installation was then brought to a close with the Jon Liddle, our guest performer who sang three songs while strumming on a guitar.

     We would like to thank everyone who attended our installation and supporting us. Thank you for making our installation a success. We hope to see you in future projects and events! ROAR!
