Guess What?!?! The Guardian Angels List is OUTTTT!!!! AND, Two Leos share one child!!!! Get your letters ready and hand it over to Shereen Raj ASAP!!!! okay?!?! GOOD!!! In conjunction with our Guardian Angel project, Shereen organised a trip to the PECH to meet the children and have a bonding session with them... Here's how the visit went....
In conjunction with the Guardian Angel project, we Leos made a brief but fun-filled visit to Praise Emmanuel Children’s Home, on the 24th of January 2009. The main objective of this visit was to get to know our step brothers or sisters whom we will be exchanging letters with for the rest of the year. 27 Leos gathered at the school compound at 8.15am. We boarded the bus at 8.30am, along with our teacher advisor, Pn. Low. We were at the home in no time, as it was a very short journey. We arrived at the home feeling excited and totally hyped up.
We received a warm welcome from the kids and the care takers of the home. Leos started by getting to know the kids and it definitely wasn’t a problem as the kids were very friendly. Once we Leos found our respective step brothers and sisters, and settled down with them, we were made to introduce our ‘anaks’ and ourselves. It definitely was a good start as we got to know each other better.
Then, we proceeded to our very first game which was ‘Limbo’. All Leos and kids had to get to the other side of the rope by bending backwards and at the same time making sure no part of our body touches the rope. It was a pretty interesting game.
Next, we formed a circle and played a ‘Name Game’, whereby it was essential for everyone to know each others name. Most of us were stuck when it came to names of those whom we didn’t know. It was indeed a tricky game.
By the end of this game, our dear Leos were extremely exhausted. However, the kids were as hyper as they were when we came and couldn’t wait to play another game. So, we decided to keep them going with Statue Dancing. It was funny how the kids tried to statue with all kinds of random poses, those cute little munchkins :).
Moving on, we Leos decided to distribute some sweets, chocolates and oranges that we brought along. As soon as we were done distributing, the kids were longing to play another game. To satisfy them, we played a random game where all of us sat in a circle and passed around an orange while singing a song. The last person to hold the orange once the song is over, had to do something silly with her kid. Among the random stuff that we were made to do was acting, dancing and cat walk. However, the best of all was when our dear Leo Piruthy’s ‘anak’ had to do the honours of making her up. You might laugh, but hey, she looked a whole lot better after the make up session.
We then took a few group pictures with the kids and the care takers, before we left the home at around 10.30am. We waved goodbye and promised to visit them again.
