Christmas Caroling

On the 28th and 29th of December, the Leo Club of SMK Assunta together with the Leo Club of Taman SEA, Leo Club of Taman Petaling and Leo Club of Petaling Jaya Integrity organized a Christmas caroling project. We went to two homes on each day. On the first day, we went to PJ Caring Home and Taman Megah Handicapped and Orphanage House. On the second day, we were to Siddhartan Care Centre and De Luxe Retirement Home. We sang lots of Christmas carols for them. After that, we distributed fruits, daily products and packet fruits to the homes. All these were contributed by the people who attended the caroling. At the children's home, we also gave out gifts to each of the children. We spent about 1 hour in each home. The people at the homes were really happy and joyful. They thanked us very much for coming and spending time with them. This project was definitely a success and we hope it can be carried out again next year.

Zoo Volunteering

On the 22nd of December 2014, 7 Leos from the Leo Club of SMK Assunta went to lend a hand to Zoo Negara. The Leos joined the Zoo Negara Volunteer program. They took a full day shift which was from 8.00am until 4.30pm.

The Leos were split into groups and then stationed at different enclosures. They helped the zookeepers of the enclosures and some of the others as well. They were stationed at the Children's World, the Bear Complex and the Tunku Abdul Rahman Aquarium. The Leos helped clean the enclosures and its surrounding area, prepare food and feed the animals. Some even helped feed the tiger.

The staffs at Zoo Negara were very informative and shared a lot of stories and facts about both the animals and themselves.

Despite the rain, it was truly a great experience. We could not take many photos due to the rules set by Zoo Negara. We hope that more people join this programme help the stadd at Zoo Negara as it is indeed a lot of work but extremely rewarding.

One Day Scientist

On the 10th of December 2014, the Leo Club of Assunta Secondary school invited the children from the Agathians Children Shelter to visit KLCC's most famous, Petrosains Centre. In total, there were 13 Leos and 20 children from the home who attended this One Day Scientists project.

This project was carried out to allow the children from the home to experience being scientists for one day. The children were able to have fun while learning new things from the centre as it was full of scientific information. There were attractions like a space station and music factory. Every station they stop by, were filled with many games and each of these games had explanations behind them. This was, the children were able to read them after they enjoyed playing each game. The Leos were also guiding them throughout the project.

The One Day Scientists project was a great success as the children and the Leos had fun. We hope we could visit the Petrosains centre again someday. At the end of the day, the Leos and the children got to know each other and had some tit bits to eat on the way back home.

The Iron Plan

On the 28th of November, the Leo Club of SMK Assunta had organized a project called The Iron Plan. We invited other Leo Clubs to come participate as well. The participating fee for this project was RM 8. The aim of this project was to teach participants on ways to protect themselves from danger. We hired some Taekwondo experts to conduct a 2 hour long self-defense workshop for the participants. This project took place in the Lawn, SMK Assunta. It was held from 8.30am and ended at 12.00pm. After the workshop, the participants were put into groups and were required to come up with a small sketch using the knowledge they obtained from the day's workshop. The groups each presented their sketch and the winner was announced. Then, everyone headed to the school's canteen for lunch. The project ended after everyone had their lunch. This project was a success indeed.
