On the 10th of October, the Lions Clubs International District 308B1 and 308B2 had organised a walkathon, ‘Walk For Sight’ in conjunction with Lions World Sight day. The event was held at the MBPJ Civic hall. The purpose of organising this event is to create awareness among the community on the importance of sight. All the donations will be proceed to the Lions Eye Clinic which provides free eye care and cataract surgery for the old folks. A total number of 7 leos had participated in this 3km walk.
Around 6:30, leos were gather at the main entrance of the Civic hall for registration. A few of supportive ex-leos had also attended this walk, such as Leo Jaishree. At 6:45 am sharp, all participants had their warm up exercise lead by Leo Darius .The Waka Waka dance and the Roti Canai dance were great. Leos were enjoying themselves while doing this exercise. Later, a welcome speech by organising chairperson, Lion Dato’ Neoh were made continued with our special guest, Yang Berhormat Elizabeth Wong.
The cheque and memento presentation were presented by the Lions. Next, the demonstration ‘Walk For Sight’ were made. The walk were started at 7:40 am sharp. Leo had to pair up for the walk. All leos were given a blind fold to experience the challenges in the 3km walk blinded folded. During the walk, all leos where very cooperative to finish the walk. Leos were exhausted and tired yet they insisted to continue the walk with full leo spirit.
After the walk finished, co-organising chairperson, Lion Vicky Yong gave a thank you speech. He really appreciated our attendance. Drinks were given out to all the participants sponsored by the Yeo’s and Indocafe’ company. About 9:55 am, the lucky draw was held. Although our school leos did not manage to win any prizes, but we were really happy to see our sister club happily receiving the prizes. This event officially ended at 10:15 am.
