Christmas Carolling Report (10.12.2010 – 11.12. 2010)
Christmas carolling is an annual project every year organized by the Assunta Secondary Girls School. This year the Christmas caroling project was organized by the Assunta Secondary Girls with the cooperation of 3 other schools which are, Taman Petaling Secondary school, La Salle Secondary school and lastly Sultan Abdul Samad Secondary School. The Christmas Caroling program was held on the 10th of December 2010 and 11th of December 2010. It was held at 7 various homes including old folks homes and kid’s orphanages. The objectives of this project is to spread the Christmas spirit and also to spend some time with the less fortunate during the festive season.
On the morning of 10th of December 2010, as early as 8.30 a.m, 31 leos gathered at the bus stop of Assunta Secondary Girls school and waited for the bus to come. Next, our first stop was the Life Care old folks home. We sang joyful songs such as ‘Ruldolph The Red Nose Reindeer’, ‘Felice Navidad’ and many more Christmas songs. It was a real joy to see the smile and laughter on the faces of the old folks. Besides that, we also visited the Golden Age Nursing Home which is located at SS3, Kelana Jaya. We arrived there at 10. 45 am. The Leos caroled and also spent some time talking to the old folks.
Our next destination was the Agathian’s Shelther. Kids at the Agathian’s Shelther also joined us in singing and they danced along to the songs that were sang. Not only that, we also played exciting games with the kids, such as ‘Pass the Parcel’ and other thrilling games. After visiting 3 various homes, the leos had an one hour break from 1.00pm till 2.00 pm. At 2.15pm, we continued our caroling program at the Praise Emmanuel Children’s Home (PECH). We sang songs such as ‘The Little Drummer Boy’ and ‘Frosty the Snowman’ .The kids at PECH as well as the leos were having a great time playing games while they bonded together. We said our goodbyes to the kids at PECH at 3.15pm which was our last home for the day. Lastly, we arrived back at Assunta Secondary Girls School by 3.30 pm.
On the 11th of December 2010, which is our 2nd day of our Christmas caroling program, the leos visited the Sunshine Home which is an old folks home located next to the Assunta Hospital. Before we started, the leos gave a brief introduction about themselves and also the objectives of having this Christmas caroling program. Everyone including the old folks were having fun together. We ended our caroling program with a song title ‘We wish you a merry Christmas’ and we went around wishing all the old folks a very merry Christmas.
Next, we visited the Precious home which is an orphanage home. The kids there were very sweet and happy with the presence of the leos. We played a few games with the kids at Precious home such as ‘Statue Dance’ and ‘Pass the parcel’. The kids were also given choice of carols to sing together. All the leos were having a blast and amazing time with these kids.
Our last and final home for the program, was the Grace Villa Home Care. When we arrived, all the old folks were already happily waiting for us. We sang many Christmas songs accompanied by guitar played by one of the leos. Same as the other old folks home, the leos spent some time talking and bonding with them. We bid our last goodbye to the old folks home at 2.30pm, which means that it was the end of our Christmas caroling program. We arrived back at Assunta Secondary School at 2.50pm.
This year Christmas carolling was a real blast. Everyone, including the leos had a real joyful time. The leos also learned that Christmas is not only all about present, parties and songs but it is also about taking some time of our busy scheduled life and spending time with the less fortunate and the elderly like that saying that goes, 'It is better to give than to receive’.

Report on 'A Day of Fun with the Myanmar Refugee Children'
On Monday the 6th of December 2010, we had a day of fun just for the Myanmar refugee children and their families. It was held at the Fraser Tower's function hall. Everyone gathered at the hall at around 11.00 am.
Each of them were given party hats to wear to get them into the mood. We got to know each other, introduced ourselves and sang christmas songs. Then, a parent sponsored some tshirts and fabric paint for the children to design their own tshirts. All of them enjoyed painting and decorating their tshirts. They were certainly very creative in their own special ways.
After that, they had some home cooked lunch. They had fried rice, meehoon, chicken, fruits cupcakes, jelly and etc. They indulged in the food prepared for them and ate until they were very full. It was great to see that they appreciated the food served.
Then, we played some light games with them. Such as the straw game and candy game, mainly for the younger children. Before the party ended, each of the children and their parents received christmas gifts and some essentials for their family. They were all suprised and happy to receive their present.

Report on 'Christmas Party with Rumah Juara Kids'
On the 7th of December 2010, a joint project was organized by the Leo Clubs of Subang Jaya, USJ 8, La Salle PJ, Kepong, USJ 4, Assunta, Sri Kuala Lumpur and Subang Utama which was to treat the Rumah Juara children to some lunch and games in conjunction with the festive season coming up just around the corner.
The children arrived at the A&W outlet near the Taman Jaya LRT Station at approximately 10.30am. We greeted the children and got to know them before the activities started. We mixed around with the children for about half an hour and the food arrived. They had fried chicken, hotdogs, french fries and a waffle with ice-cream for lunch. It was definitely a feast for them.
After lunch, the A&W mascot entertained the children and played some games with them, such as, musical chairs, dancing and passing the parcel. There were many prizes given to the top 3 winners of each game.
By 12.30pm, it was time to say goodbye to the children. Before leaving, each and everyone of them received a christmas gift from santa claus. They were all happy to receive their gifts. All of them went back with a huge smile on their faces and everyone enjoyed themselves.
