On the 5th of September 2015, 10 Leos participated in a joint “Spotlight On Children” project with the Leo Club of Sunway Metro, Leo Club of La Salle PJ and Leo Club of Taman Petaling to visit the Rohingnya Education Centre in Cheras. This project was a follow-up project on the Odd Jobs 2015 project held in July 2015. When we arrived at the refugee centre at 10:00 a.m., we first introduced ourselves to the children there. The children proceeded to enlighten us with a few songs sung beautifully. We then distributed fruits to them and had a game of charades.
Afterwards, they were split into groups of six and they had to pass around a box wrapped in newspaper whereby the second and third layer held sweets while the fourth held a box of cornflakes. After the game, we distributed snacks and once they finished eating, they played a game involving newspapers. Later, we distributed moon cakes for them to eat. Before leaving, they sang a song for us and in return, we sang two songs for them. We then said our goodbyes and left at 12:30 p.m. We were happy to see them so cheerful and were touched by their kind and positive personalities. Overall, the project was a successful and meaningful one and it was an amazing experience interacting with the children. ROAR!
