Leo Assunta's 43rd Installation 2014

The Leo Club of SMK Assunta is a group of independent young women who aim to make a difference in our society. We like to challenge ourselves and live by our motto Leadership, Experience and Opportunity.

Our annual installation is back once again! We plan to end the fiscal year of 2013-2014 with a bang and allow the new one to rise from its ashes.
Details for our event is as follows:
Date: 11th July 2014
Time: 2.30pm – 5.00pm
Venue: Dewan Sister Enda, SMK Assunta
Theme: “Janus : Looking To The Past and Future”
Ticket Price: RM 10

Our theme this year is Janus: Looking To The Past and Future. In the ancient Roman religions and myths, Janus is the god of beginnings and transitions, and thereby of gates, doors, passages, endings and time.
FUN FACT:
- Pronounced Yanos.

- Janus presided over the beginning and ending of conflict, and hence war and peace. The doors of his temple were open in time of war, and closed to mark the peace.

- He is usually depicted as having two faces, since he looks to the future and to the past (Just like our LEO logo :D)

- The month January is named after him!

Our event is also inspired by the longest British SciFi show Doctor Who! The Doctor was the universe's "greatest defender", having saved the cosmos thousands of times throughout his long life, becoming a great legend across the whole universe.
Though largely a believer in non-violent conflict resolution, he was, when absolutely necessary, a great warrior. Indeed, some civilizations in the universe translated the word doctor as warrior, whilst others saw him as a compassionate benefactor, worthy of their admiration and compassion.
We want to use this concept to mold our fiscal year 2014-2015. We want to be able to help people no matter who, what and where they are.

Also stay tuned for our guest performances *grin*
We will be having an “unusual” and “unorthodox” version of a lucky draw. Be ready to laugh or cry! *evil laugh*

For further info and booking and dietary requirements,
Please contact our,
Organizing Chairperson Leo Samantha Ong – 012-3065988
Incoming President Leo Michelle Hee – 012-2409255
Be there or be square! See ya! ROAR!

Running Leo

On the 7th June of 2014, Leo Club of SMK Assunta had attended an event that organised by the Leo Club of SMK Taman Petaling and Leo Club of SMK Taman SEA called Running Leo. This event was held in Setia Walk, Puchong. The event started at 11am and ended at 6pm. There were 7 Leos from our school took part in this event.

The event started by playing games like tearing a piece of paper to any sizes of a right angled triangle, drag it to the 7 Eleven and each group has to beg for a cup of instant noodles and eat it. Next, we had to search for cards in any staircases and guess the clues on the paper. After that, each team had to piggyback their team mate to find the words during words search. Then, only one of the members is allowed to see the pictures that we need to find. Meanwhile, we have to take a photo of the pictures that we were requested to find. After that, we have to dance and pass the game by scoring 25 points. After we have qualified to go to the next round, we have a short break for lunch.

After lunch, we all were separated into different respective teams for the tearing name tag game. Each player has to stick their names on the back of their jersey. Sky blue team won for the dancing game so they achieved 2 bombs, which means if other player tears the one that has the bomb, both of them will be disqualified as well. Lastly, the sky blue team took the win for the name tag game. The project went successfully. All in all, all of us enjoyed ourselves very much. We also hope that more people will be going to join us and have fun next year.

Leo Yoke Ling.

Report on the 41st Multiple District Leo Forum 2014

On the 31'st of May 2014, 24 leos from the Leo Clubs of SMK Assunta attended the 41st MD Leo Forum 2014 that was held in Singapore. They gathered at A&W and departed for Singapore at 7.00am on a few buses, together with the leos from the Leo Club of Taman Petaling, Taman Sea, PJI, Batu Lapan, La Salle PJ, La Salle Klang and Wesley Methoudist High School. After a 7 hour long bus ride filled with fun, laughter, mayhem and a couple of pit-stops, we arrived at the National University of Singapore at about 3.00pm. Everyone then immediately got ready for the Rock & Roar themed fellowship night. All the leos looked very Rock and Roar indeed.

The next day, our Leos got up early to catch the buses on time to the next venue. A few inspiring and motivational seminars and talks were planned for us in the morning. After that, everyone had lunch and prepared for the respective Sub-District Forums. The Leo Club of SMK Assunta managed to sweep 34 awards during this session.

Once that was over, it was time to get ready for the banquet night. All our Leos were dolled-up in their pretty dresses and fancy masks as the theme was Masquerade Night. It was a night filled with tons of performances, awards and a fabulous 7-course dinner. 3 of our own Leos also had planned a surprise performance for everyone. A couple of our sister clubs, The Leo Club of SMK Damansara Jaya and The Leo Club of PJI managed to sweep the Top Treasurer, Top Secretary, Top President, and Top Club awards that night.

The next day, the closing ceremony created a very sad atmosphere as it was the last few hours with everyone there. All the Leos from all over Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia and even Australia were busy taking selfies everywhere for memories. This short trip to Singapore filled with stress, joy, laughter, nervousness, and bonding sessions is definitely something to remember! Our club feels more than happy to have achieved all the awards below through this Fiscal Year 2013-2014. All the best to the next batch of Leos who will be bringing the Leo Club of SMK Assunta to much greater heights :) ROAR!
