Report on Leo Leadership Camp 2010!

On the 27th of November to 2nd December 2010, the Leo Club of Petaling Jaya Integrity organized a camp at Kem Bina Semangat, Kuala Kubu Bharu for their sister clubs which are the Leo Clubs of SMK Assunta, SMK Damansara Jaya, SMK Taman Sea and SMK (P) Taman Petaling.

On the first day of camp, everyone got to know each other and was anxious about the camp. We had our opening ceremony and the president of the Lions Club of Petaling Jaya, Lion M. Kesavan and our leo advisor, Lion Ivan Ho was there to grace the event. We then headed for lunch, played some ice-breakers and got to know each other better. Our first activity was the trust fall, where we learned how to trust our team mates. Then we had an outdoor activity called "High Ropes". This activity helped us overcome our fear of heights. At night, all of us were divided into groups and decided on our team names and cheers, which were "pikachus" and "ploctopaul". It was fun and everyone also sat together as a group to design the group banners.

The other activities that were conducted throughout the camp were repelling, kayakking, rafting, flying fox, cobb-web, obstacle course, treasure hunt and not to forget, the very exciting jungle trekking. Jungle trekking was one of the best memories to take back from the camp. Not only did we learn many good qualities, we bonded as a group and we helped each other get through the tough trails. At the halfway point, we crossed the river over to the waterfall where the water was so clear and refreshing. We then continued our journey until we arrived back at our campsite. By the end of the day, we were all exhausted but we really enjoyed ourselves to the fullest.

On the last night of camp, it was Fellowship Night. Each club prepared a short performance and presented it. After that, we had some delicious local delights, played games and ice-breakers. We had some dancing as well. It was a blast! The next day, it was the closing ceremony and we all took a group photo. Everyone was sad to say 'goodbye' and did not wanted the camp to end just yet. After sometime to mingle around for the last time, we had our lunch and headed back home.

This camp was definitely a great experience. It is a certainly place to gain experience, overcome fears and to make many new friends.
