Report on Amplified Camp 2011

On the 9th of April 2011, Leos from the Assunta Secondary School gathered for the Amplified Camp themed OHANA at SMK Assunta. Beginning at 1.00p.m, fellow Leos gathered in the ‘bilik khuliah’ for the opening ceremony where they heard speeches by the teacher advisor, Puan Betty Toh and Lion Malcolm. The Leos were then dismissed for a short lunch break.

After filling up on fuel, the Leos were without doubt, excited and filled with energy for the games that were prepared for them. Several ice breaking games were carried out so that the incoming Leos could get to know their Leo sisters a bit better. The Leos were then separated into 6 groups and given a colour each. As for thinking of a team cheer, everyone put their thinking caps on and spewed out anything to do with their team. Lion Malcolm had given them a head start by asking everyone to include the Māori of New Zealand Haka chant in their cheer.

Cheers aside, all teams cracked their heads figuring out the clues for the directions to their station games. After cracking two clues in a row, Leos were running all over school to finish their games as a team, hoping they would come out on top. Some of the station games were figuring out the artist and the name of a song, walking like a caterpillar together as a team, getting a ping-pong ball into a bowl through a newspaper drain and several more.

By the end of the station games, everyone was beat and couldn’t wait to see who the winners were. Soon after tea time, the prize giving ceremony had begun. Coming in third place was the pink team followed by the blue team and coming in as champions were the orange team. Leos were dismissed at 6.30p.m. That day, Leos went home happy knowing they had strengthen the bonds between their friends and made many new friends, friends so close you could call them a family and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.
