Report on Movie Marathon II

On the 2^nd of November 2012, the Leo Club of SMK Assunta held a ‘Movie Marathon II’ fund raising project. This project was held to raise funds for the upcoming Christmas Carolling project which will be in December. On that day, the Leos worked hard to prepare the Gallery for the show. At 10.20 a.m. the audience came into the Gallery to watch the movie.

            There were 3 Leos who participated in this project. The movie that was shown for the day was 'Rebought a Zoo'. The movie was sponsored by our counselling teacher Puan Yap, as the moral students needed to be occupied while the Muslim students had their religious gathering that morning. The movie was delayed for a few minutes due to some technical difficulties. However, we managed to solve the problem and resumed with the show. The students were very fortunate to be able to spend time with their friends while watching a movie.

            At the end of the movie, the Leos worked together along with Puan Yap to clean up the Gallery and rearrange the tables and chairs back to their original positions. The Leos faced some difficulties throughout this project and nevertheless, the Leos worked together as a team to overcome them. We learned that proper time management and teamwork is essential to get a job done. All in all, the project was a huge success and we hope that the future form 3 Leos will be able to carry out this project with even greater success.

Report on Making "Kolam" for Deepavali Celebration

On the 31st October 2012, the Leo Club of SMK Assunta held an activity on Deepavali Celebration was drawing ‘Kolam’. A few Leos helped in this activity. We started our activity at around 1.30 p.m. which was after school. We did this at our school cafe.

Firstly, we arranged the chairs around the place on where we decided to place the ‘Kolam’.We then swept the place. Next we started to sketch the outlines of a peacock as the ‘Kolam’ by using chalks. We put the coloured rice in to it. We put the coloured rice nicely and inserted the colours exactly like a peacock. Pink and red were made the colours of the petals, while dark blue and light blue were the colours of the peacock body.

Then, we put white, yellow, dark green, light green and red for the colours of the feathers. We had many fun while putting this peacock ‘Kolam’. Some of our school teachers praised us and told us that we were diligent. We drew some patterns by using the suji flour so that it would not look messy.

Finally, we used the same flour to write the words 'Happy Diwali' and 'Leo Club of Assunta' by the sides of the peacock. We finished this Peacock 'Kolam' around 5.00 p.m. At last we enjoyed this activity.

Report on Movie Marathon

On the 19^th of October 2012, the Leo Club of SMK Assunta held a ‘Movie Marathon’ fund raising project. This project was held to raise funds for the upcoming Christmas Caroling project which will be in December. On that day, the Leos worked hard to prepare the AV rooms for the show. At about half an hour before the students started piling in, the Leos worked together to arrange the tables and chairs for the comfort of the audience.

            There were 9 Leos who participated in this project. The movie that was shown for the day was 'Avengers'. The total fee for the movie which came up to RM 160.00 was sponsored by one of our school's counselling teacher, Pn. Yap, to keep the students who were going for a trip later that afternoon, occupied. The movie was delayed for a few minutes due to some technical difficulties. However, we managed to solve the problem and resumed with the show. The students were very ecstatic to be able to spend time with their friends while watching a movie.

            At the end of the movie, the Leos worked together to clean up the AV rooms and rearrange the tables and chairs back to their original positions. Report on "Bake My Heart Out II" Project

On the 18th October 2012, the Leo Club of SMK Assunta held a project, called ‘Bake My Heart II’. This project was to help raise funds for the Amplified Camp and the school to get new tables and chairs.

There were 15 Leos who participated in this project. It was led by Lion Malcolm and our teacher advisor, Pn. Betty. We met at the ‘Bilik Masakan’ at 8 o’clock. We made blueberry and apple turnovers. We started by filling the pastries with blueberry and apple jam and then folded it. After that, it was glazed with egg. They were then placed on buttered trays and into the oven to bake.

After about an hour, we were done and there were no pastries left. We rested and waited for the pastries to cool down. When it was cooled, we packed all of it into individual plastic bags to be sold. Shortly after that, a few Leos went to sell them at the canteen, staff room and around the school while the others cleaned up. We managed to sell all the 219 turnovers.

We made RM439 on that day. RM400 was given to the school for new tables and chairs and the rest will be used for the Amplified Camp.

Report on "Lucky Charm" Project

On the 28th of September, the Leo Club Of Smk Assunta had a project which was organized by the Form 4 Leos. The purpose of this project was to create a bookmark along with a pen wishing the Form 3s and Form 5s Leos who will be sitting for the PMR and SPM examinations. 

            The bookmarks was designed by Kendra Hema and were given out along with the pen to the Form 3s and Form 5s by Leo Crystal and Leo Shanmugapriyaah at around  classes by classes. The Leos gave out the bookmarks at 8.00 a.m. and it was completed by 9.00 a.m..

The Leos showed their appreciation to the other Leos who made an effort with this project. With that, the Leos wish the PMR and SPM candidates good luck and achieve good grades in their exams.

Everywhere we look, we see many of our fellow students stuffing their faces in their books,
Everywhere we go, we hear them say 'aiyo, I should have studied earlier' or 'I stayed up all night reading this chapter' and such...
It sure sounds like everyone is having the 'study fever' as super important exams like PMR and SPM are quickly approaching as the days pass by! And so, we would like to present this lovely bookmark here as a symbol of our encouragement, as we are cheering you on to give your all and to do your very best.

Report On Band Installation

On the 14^th of September 2012, the Assunta Symphonic Band invited the Leo Club to attend their installation which was held in the school hall. The theme for this year’s installation was ‘Prelude To New Beginning’. A few of our Leos attended the event to give them support.

The installation begun at 1:30 p.m. and started off with a speech by the out-going president. After her speech, certificates were given of to all the out-going band members. Then, a video presentation was shown and was followed by a performance by Form 4 band members. They played a few pieces such as ‘Italliana’, ‘Three Ducks Went Wondering’ and ‘African Festival’.

The event continued by the installation of the juniors and seniors. Then all the new board of the year 2012/2013 were called up to receive their badges. A speech was given off by the incoming president and the teacher advisor, Miss Boey. Another video presentation was shown dedicated to all the out-going members.

The event ended at 2:30 p.m. Refreshments were provided at the back of the hall for all the guests who attended the event. The Leos went back at around 3:30 p.m. They enjoyed the event.
