On the 18th of February 2012 , the Leo club
organized a project to help the blind students read. The project was
organized by Leo Natalie Yaw and Leo Karen . Five of the Leo members
participated in this project which was Leo Charmaine , Lakshmi ,
Dhaanyaa , Leo Karen and Leo Natalie. The activity lasted for about 2 hours
which was from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Universiti Malaya.
Karen
introduced us to the people we are supposed to read to and we went to their carrels(
rooms for disable people). We each were given different topics to talk about
like about Malaysia's History, Economics and even on ghosts. They used a
braille machine which looked like a typewriter to type whatever we said. Sadly,
no books are printed in Braille for the blind students at the University. Some
of them use tape recorders and will later listen to it. This project was truly
a memorable one as it exposed us to something new and most of all it taught us
to be grateful to be blessed with a perfect sight.
